Hold ‘Em

Only a few weeks left until I hit Vegas where I hope to play The Mirage’s weekly NL tourney, so I really gotta get my head back into a multi-table mindset. Problem is, I’ve been too busy with other things that I haven’t had much time to play online, so when I do play, I only have the time and energy to play single table sit-n-go’s. For the last five months I’ve been pretty good about being only playing when I’m mentally fresh. I used to play too much after work or before going to bed when I would be too tired to play sharp and disciplined poker. In sit-n-go’s it wouldn’t matter because the top 3 finishers get paid and it’s pretty easy to get there even with only one eye on the screen (the other eye usually surfing the web), but I was picking up some bad habits. When you’re tired, patience and discipline go right out the window. I was getting away with playing junk hands cause I could usually recover from bleeding chips early on, but those kind of habits would kill me when I had to play better competition. So I’ve been good about only playing when I feel fresh, and quitting as soon as I feel the slightest bit of boredome or exhaustion set in. But now I just might have to start playing multi-table tourneys even if I am tired because I’ve only got a few weeks left before Vegas and then the weekend after I get back I’m going to play in some sort of Asian charity tourney in AC. Both tourneys are rebuy events, which I don’t normally like, but at least The Mirage’s weekly is a single rebuy only. Regardless, I’m really looking forward to it even though the practice sessions will be a bit of a grind.
