Julia

Sweet. I had just about given up on an order I had placed thru wgbh.org way back in November. It was for a 3-dvd set of Julia Child’s The French Chef cooking shows. I placed the order but then the product mysteriously disappeared from their online store and I couldn’t find a trace of it even existing anywhere else. Just as I had thought it was too good to be true when I saw it available, I figured that they had made a mistake and decided they weren’t going to release it after all. But alas today I received an email saying it would ship on 4/5! How very very excellent. Julia was the queen of cooking shows, and The French Chef was the show to which every other cooking show owes a debt of gratitude. She would cook, teach, make mistakes on camera, all resulting in your feeling more comfortable and confident in your own endeavors in the kitchen. I was lucky enough to have met her on several occasions during my years in Boston and at various events and tradeshows and what you saw of her on camera was definitely who she was in real life. Unpretentious, funny, totally accessible and not afraid to speak her mind. She was truly a national treasure and we’ll always remember her fondly. I can’t wait to receive my dvds! And if you think I won’t watch all 432 minutes of them, you are so wrong!
