Crazy Storm

Last night was one of the most intense storms I’ve ever witnessed. TF was giving me a ride home from dart league and even though it’s less than 6 miles, we probably saw about 15 toppled trees, some of them blocking off both lanes forcing us to drive along the shoulder. The lightning was literally non-stop, like a crazy light show in a night club. The rain was pouring down torrentially and I heard this morning that there was also hale. Having been a city boy all my life, I’ve never witnessed anything like this before. Maybe the only thing close was twenty years ago during a summer in Ithaca when I got caught in a violent storm while trying to walk back to Collegetown from the Pyramid Mall because I had missed the bus. In both cases, the power of mother nature was awesome and being able to experience it was exhilarating. They say last night’s storm might have also been a tornado like the one that touched down in nearby Hawthorne last week. Makes me wonder if this is going to become a regular thing around here…

[ Edit: Here’s a pic of some of the damage from the storm around here. ]
