So this is what my Aero-Garden looks like after one month. In the back row from left to right: mint, basil, dill and cilantro. In the front row, parsely, purple basil and chives. In attempt to let the smaller plants catch up, I’ve already nipped the top of the basil and purple basil plants per the instructions that came with the seeds. Still, I think they are too overgrown and are stunting the other little guys. Look how sad and teeny the parsley is. The cilantro is kind of lagging too. The chives were doing well for a couple of weeks until I snipped the tops for a glorious little omelet I made last week, and now they’re kind of sprawling out to the sides instead of growing vertically. I must say though, the two basil plants have been really remarkable. The few leaves I’ve clipped so far tasted terrific; I just chiffonaded them and used em to top a simple plate of linguini with olive oil, garlic and black pepper. In a couple weeks I’ll be ready to harvest a whole bunch and actually make some pesto, yum. I don’t usually use mint, so I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with all of that yet, maybe just a couple leaves with each bowl of ice cream I eat? Same thing with dill, not one of my favorite herbs but it’s starting to grow like crazy. I’ll tell ya something though, it is fun to come home each day and see how my plants are doing. You can really see noticeable growth each and every day. It’s also cool having what is essentially a super bright night light. The Aero Garden throws off so much light, I can pretty much cook in the kitchen without even turning on any other lights. Neat, isn’t it?
we can make some mojitos with that mint!!!! probably be really good with fresh mint.
Or maybe some chutney…
or maybe some *special* brownies…
Yeah – you’ve gotta be one of the few people _not_ growing dope with this thing =)
