Back from Vegas. All I can say is that age has certainly caught up with us. One round of golf a day was all it took to make us all too tired to party. Granted the strip club was too crowded to be any fun too, so that didn’t help. Poker was fun, but I busted out when my top two pair ran into a flopped set of sixes. Notable entrants in the weekly tourney were Sam Grizzle and Tommy Vu, but they weren’t at my tables so I didn’t get a chance to check out their game. The food at Olives was awesome, once again with the appetizers being the stars. Drank a ton of Whitehall Lane cabernet too, which proceeded to knock me out since I had only had two hours of sleep that day before playing golf and then heading right to the strip club for a few beers before dinner. Always cool to just chill with the boys, but man, we sure don’t have the stamina for staying out late like we used to. Gambling was probably the highlight of the trip even though I dropped about a grand (which includes the $430 for the poker buy-in, so basically I was down about six bills in craps and blackjack). I started off the trip by losing big, but the last two days, every table I bought in at I made money so it was a nice little comeback. Taught Twoin to play craps and he’s proven to be an excellent shooter, going on several nice rolls. Thanks to Hing we had a blast playing at a dirty run down casino called Imperial Palace. I never would have discovered such a place, but leave it to Hing Dawg to find these, um, treasures. He was clowning it up and making the dealers and pit bosses roll their eyes, but a great time was had by all. You can always count on Hing for some solid entertainment. Next time we should play a little less golf and just waste an afternoon or two playing blackjack at IP. As for golf, Silverstone Ranch and Siena Golf Club were just so-so. But Revere Lexington was a real gem of a course. Dramatic views and plenty of opportunity to play smart golf…which I of course ignored and played driver off every tee. But it was really enjoyable golf with these guys, and good to see my old college buddy Mat. That boy can hit a 2 iron about as long as I drive the ball. It’s pretty sick. Anyway, it’s good to be back, but work has been nuts. More about that in my next post, since technically I’m still under a strict nondisclosure for now…
