I did it! Won my seat at the WSOP via PokerStars. Played a $160 double shootout, won my starting table in just over an hour, finally getting lucky on two showdowns to do it. An hour to finish a table is unusually fast, so I ended up having to watch the other tables for two hours before they were finally all settled and we could start the final table. Since I had watched everybody, I didn’t have to take too many chances, just stealing chips from those who I knew were weak tight, and getting good value for the quality hands I did occasionally get. Doubled up early with AK, then just nibbled here and there and knocked people out when they got short stacked. I don’t think I lost a single heads up race. Guess I was finally really getting some good luck! Got to heads up, refused to make a deal (since I felt I totally had this guy read well), and then proceeded to run the guy completely over in under 10 minutes. It was beautiful. Felt such a rush, totally in the zone. Stealing, trapping, and finally set one final trap when I checked my top pair of 9’s on the flop, and sure enough, he didn’t hesitate to push his last 4200 in with just King high. My nines held up and now I get to go to the WSOP! It was a very Good Friday indeed!
