Too Busy!

Too much stuff going on! All good, but still, I prefer having a little down time whenever possible. Sterl’s wedding banquet was this past weekend at Golden Unicorn. I’ve been to a ton of Chinese banquets in my day and I have to say, the food there was as good if not better than any other I’ve been to. Even the common banquet dishes like the shrimp with walnuts, the steamed fish, the abalone and cold app were all much better than usual. Props to Sterl’s mom for hooking up the menu! The dj/entertainment crew did a great job too. At first we were not too thrilled with them because they seemed displeased that S&A wanted to eliminate most of the hokey stuff from the program despite the fact that Sterl’s mom had paid for the “Diamond Package”. But the silly Chicago Bulls entrance music aside, they did a terrific job and even packed the dance floor, getting all the moms and grannies out on the dance floor thru the use of props and nice crowd interaction. The highlight was when one of the crew “got served”, getting into a dance battle with a 6-year old black kid who was the son of Sterl’s mom’s co-worker. It was priceless. The kid was great, even staring down the dj crew guy, and at one point while the other guy was dancing, the kid looked over at his sister as if to say “can you believe this clown is trying to battle ME?!”. Even Sterl’s dad was into it, standing up to get a better view of the kid doing his thang. Was a fun night. Oh yeah, and thanks to Sterl I discovered the parking garage at Confucius Plaza. I never knew there was actually a decent garage in C-town. To think of all the time I’ve wasted circling around looking for parking just to avoid all the seedy lots in the area when there was a nice clean high class garage right there all along. So anyway, I got my car out of the garage and then I went home and proceeded to get smoked playing online poker. Played 4 tourneys and didn’t cash in any of them 🙁

Sunday I woke up early thanks to Stoopid V instant messaging me for no other reason than because she was bored at 9am our time, 9p her time. Beeyotch is always bored, like she needs to wake me up to tell me that?… I Q her! At least I got to play golf that day. Got out a bit earlier than usual too, since our hookup at the course told us to come at 12:30 before the twilight groups start showing up. Sweetness; me and Twoin got so many free rounds there this season. As Twoin said, this is better than any country club membership!

Meanwhile, back at work, things are just nuts. I have to pour through about 15 different analytics formulas and try to document my algorithms for calculating them. No clue how to document math formulas, and it’s hard enough just trying to trace thru the lines of code to figure out how my functions do what they do. Can you say pain in the ass?

In other news, the little downtime I have had, it seems Anthony Bourdain’s show “No Reservations” on the Travel Channel has been on everytime I’m in front of the TV, and I must say, it is a kick ass show. He’s such a cynical sarcastic prick that it makes for extremely entertaining television. I just know it is going to win a ton of awards. You ever wonder how Globe Trekker would be with a little more ordinary hosts (i.e. regular trash-talkin folk instead of crunchy annoying types)? Well No Reservations is it. His show on Vietnam had so many funny laugh out loud moments. I’m definitely a fan of the show now even though I’ve only seen 3 episodes.

Arrgh, 12:25am already. Time for bed and then back to work early again. I gotta try to plow thru the rest of those analytics formulas tomorrow so I can try and take Thursday off to play golf with Jones. Guy hasn’t played more than 5 rounds since his twins were born. That’s worth a vacation day. Besides, tomorrow night is Sterl’s last hurrah at Mekong, and probably our last hurrah period at Mekong since they lost their lease. So tomorrow I’ll probably take the train in instead of driving, and then I can drink all I want, and not have to worry about getting up the next day if I have it off. How convenient is that? Did I mention I’m always thinking? 🙂
