*cough cough* Still wheezing up lung butter and another trip to AC this weekend with minimal sleep probably didn’t help things. Overdid the drinking too as I woke up totally hung over and dehydrated. I realized I had drank so many Kaluha and coffees to stay awake at the poker table last night that when I went to piss in the morning, I could literally smell coffee. Blackjack was cruel to me again, but I didn’t bring that much money with me for this trip since I know I’ll be heading back down there in a few weeks because K said her cousin is celebrating a bday down there. Fortunately poker was good to me. I normally don’t like sitting around playing non-tourney poker because it’s quite a grind, but we went with O this trip and she wanted to play and since blackjack wasn’t happening for me I decided it was as good a way to kill time as any. So we got in on a $1-$2 no-limit game and I didn’t catch much of anything for the first hour or so, resulting in a super tight table image. Working with that, I started isolating the players I figured were giving me too much respect and started stealing by the third or fourth hour. A couple of highlights included a nut full house on the turn with my pocket 8’s which I check called and then pretended to make a steal attempt on the river by moving my opponent all in but betting way too quickly. He called without hesitation and I busted him out. Another hand I open raised to $12 with A5 suited and got one caller. I checked in the dark, then called his $20 bet immediately on a raggedy flop. Check called again on the turn, and then stole the pot by betting big on the river without even looking at the turn card. It was against the one guy at the end of the table I knew I could bluff the easiest. I loved that.
Anyway, the best part of the weekend was after we came home. Since I left my car at Twoin’s in Fort Lee, we decided to hit up So Kong Dong restaurant. It’s a Korean restaurant that really only serves like two things- a soft tofu jigae in assorted varieties, and a killer kalbi. Being sick and all, that really hit the spot. I got the beef tofu, medium spicy. So damn good, and perfectly spicy. Just enough to make my nose run, but not too hot that I couldn’t keep eating. It’s like the perfect winter time food. Anyway, my NyQuil is starting to kick in now, so I guess it’s time for me to crawl into bed. I really do like this foggy feeling of sleepiness setting in… I just hope I wake up feeling better than today, and that I don’t wake myself up in the middle of the night with my hacking cough. Busy week ahead; can’t afford to be sick!
